Cacao farming in Belize

We're excited to be a part of a new cacao farm  being developed in southern Belize called Serendipity Cacao LTD. Belize's Toledo district is home to many cacao farms, and the Maya Mountain Cooperative there recently was honored with an Heirloom designation by the FCIA.

Serendipity is in the proximity to Maya Mountain and is approx 50 acres. The land has several valleys and large timber trees which will provide shade. This year we will plant 25 acres through November, the rainy part of the year and the rest next year. A nursery is underway , and a thousand trees have been started from seed as March is the month to begin planting. We look forward to sharing more about our farm as it matures and should have some progress photos towards mid March. If you haven't been to Belize, its a wonderful country filled with beautiful reefs, Mayan ruins, caves and waterfalls , jungle birds, howler monkeys and friendly English speaking people. I stay at CottonTree Lodge an eco resort when I go and I highly recommend this as a place to discover the more non-touristy side of Belize.
