Yesterday I participated in the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce small business Expo and Job Fair, held at DeVargas Mall in Santa Fe. What a great event this was! There were about 100 vendor tables and it was packed with people. It seemed many companies were hiring, always a good indicator, and I was just super impressed with the reception we received. Some people confused us with Kakawa, a chocolate house on Paseo de Peralta, but knew the chocolate looked (and tasted) different. We love Kawaka and its the names that foul people up. Being from Hawaii, where everyone knows what cacao is just shows you how detached people are from the agricultural products that foods come from. Thats why we showcase a chocolate tour....beyond the wrapper. One day people will know what cacao is, just like they know papaya or kiwi fruit.
I was also surprised at how many residents of Santa Fe seemed unfamiliar with the Siler Road industrial area. Meow Wolf is helping to change that but this is such a small city you'd think people would know most neighborhoods. The business park we are in, Richards Business Park, is a vibrant community of almost 100 business' from Dance studios to Breweries to Gyms, and the usual trades like plumbing, electric ,solar etc. It also houses the Santa Fe Jewelers Supply. More people need to get out and re-discover their great city of Santa Fe. Its more than just the historic plaza.
Great job Santa Fe Chamber for such a vibrant event!
