We were delighted this month to learn that we received a 2018 Silver Americas International Chocolate Award for our 55% Dark Milk, Prickly Pear Hibiscus and Lime bar. The International Chocolate Awards was created in 2012 and is the chocolate industry's equivalent of the Olympics or a James Beard award. There were over 2000 entrants this year in the Americas competition. It is the first time a New Mexico Company has won such a prestigious award. Our chocolate maker Derek Lanter has been crafting award winning bars for the last decade in Hawaii and won an International Cocoa of Excellence Award for the Waialua Estate when he worked there. Melanie participated in the flavor combination of this bar balancing the floral, fruitiness and tart flavors that were complimented by the Zorzal Dominican Republic cacao beans.
